The City of Calais is incredibly proud to recognize four of our own whose swift, skilled, and selfless actions were directly responsible for saving the lives of two members of our community.

 

Samantha Small, Earl Small, Michael Curran, and Hunter Sousa were each recently awarded the prestigious Phoenix Award by Maine EMS — a distinction reserved for EMS professionals who help bring someone back from the brink of death.

 

Their calm under pressure, quick thinking, and teamwork made the difference when every second mattered.
