PUBLIC NOTICE
We are writing on behalf of the City of Calais to notify you regarding upcoming paving that is expected to start the week of August 18, 2025. Sargent Construction has retained Northeast Paving to complete this work to pave the utility trenches. The paving will take place between Lincoln Street and Union Street.
During the week of August 18th, starting on Wednesday, Northeast Paving will be onsite to start on sidewalks, driveways and temporary water cross trenches. On Monday, August 25th the main line crew will start trench paving.
There will be traffic impacts during trench paving due to the extent of the sewer and water trenches that need paving. Our onsite resident along with flaggers will assist residents and general traffic to reaching desired destinations. We will work with both residences and area businesses with access to properties throughout the work area. Note that during each day during the week of the 25th, the paving crew can only fill 4 inches of the required 8-inch pavement depth. The contractor will be plating over some trench areas in higher traffic businesses. Driveways will have small aprons where necessary. This will be filled in over a two-day period, so these transitions into your driveway will be very short term. Please use caution when transitioning into your driveway during this period.
As paving takes place across or near your driveway and or property, it may be necessary to temporarily block the driveway during the trench paving. The contractor will work with you to minimize the impact and duration of this disruption.
The City has retained Olver Associates Inc. to provide an onsite representative during the work who will be Brody Boynton.
