PUBLIC NOTICE - YELLOW WATER
PUBLIC NOTICE – YELLOW WATER
The Water Department is aware of reports of yellow or discolored water throughout the system and is actively working to resolve the issue.
The discoloration was caused by a sprinkler contractor using a large volume of water, which disturbed naturally occurring iron sediment within the water distribution system. This disturbance can temporarily cause the water to appear yellow, brown, or discolored.
The water remains safe to use. The discoloration is primarily an aesthetic issue caused by the iron sediment being stirred up in the system. While the appearance of the water may be unpleasant or concerning, the discoloration does not mean the water is unsafe.
Our crews are working to flush the affected areas and restore the water system to normal conditions. Customers should not expect to see significant improvement until later tonight as this process continues.
If your water is discolored, we recommend allowing your cold water to run for several minutes until it clears. Avoid using hot water while the water is discolored, as this may draw sediment into your hot water system.
We understand that discolored water can be concerning and inconvenient, and we sincerely apologize for the disruption. Please be assured that our Water Department is monitoring the situation closely and is taking the necessary steps to correct it as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to restore clear water throughout the system.
